Beastie Boys in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

Who would have thought the Beastie Boys would have more hits after "(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party)," or that they'd grow into a real band that played their own instruments? Not this blogger. And so, it's kind of shocking to see the New York City white rappers being nominated to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. Does this hip hop belong in the Rock Hall? What about rap that's socially conscious? Sure, you can find several Beastie Boys songs that don't sound socially conscious.
