The power of hedge funds has not gone unnoticed by issuers. A recent BNY Mellon survey has found that 93 percent of all companies meet with hedge funds, vs. 89 percent in 2009. In addition, 24 percent of a firm's investor meetings are with hedge funds, up from 16 percent in 2009. It would be hard to think of a reason not to meet with these investors, though I can understand why a company would be nervous. In any case, most companies are opting to engage. More of the internal IR spending definitely seems oriented toward hedge funds these days. Survey
